Where do I go to enroll my child in Child Development Programs? The Child Development office is located in building F at the El Dorado County Office of Education, 6767 Green Valley Road, Placerville CA 95667. For an appointment call (530)295-2276/(530)295-2270.
What documents do I need to bring to the appointment in order to get my child enrolled? In order to process your application for enrollment please bring the following documentation: Birth Certificates for all children in the family Current Immunizations Family or child’s Medical/Insurance Card Social Security Card Income verification for one full month Single Parent status verification IEP/ IFSP( if applicable)
Does Child Development provide transportation and/or can my child ride the school bus to the preschool programs? Transportation is not provided by the Child Development preschool programs. Preschool children may not ride on the local school buses due to license and insurance regulations. A home base option is available for families.
Do I need to send a lunch or snack to school with my child? Morning or afternoon snack is provided to State Preschool half day programs and lunch is provided for all Head Start and full day infant toddler child care programs.
Does the Child Development Program provide full day child care? General Child care is available for children birth to three years of age from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Children 3 to 5 years of age have half day preschool options available in Head Start, State Preschool and full cost preschool, depending on income eligibility. Children may be enrolled in more than one preschool program if they meet eligibility criteria creating a 7 1/2 hour preschool day.
What is type of curriculum do the Child Development Programs use? Home based Early Head Start programs use the Program for Infant Toddler Care. Center base programs use The Creative Curriculum to implement developmentally appropriate practices.
Will my child be given enrollment priority if he/she has been diagnosed with a special need and has an IFSP/IEP? Not necessarily, children must first meet State and/or Federal income guidelines before the special need is factored into the enrollment process.
Does my child have to have a disability in order to receive support services from the Early Intervention Coordinator / Disability Coordinator? No, the Early Intervention Coordinator is consulted with anytime a child may be in need of additional support services. Support services may include but are not limited to, modification to classroom environment, speech and language concerns, behavioral support, special need information, Student Success Team meetings, referral to special education and LEA’s, as well as teacher and parent resource information.
